A Shock at Shek Kip Mei

Got a minor "cultural " shock at an exhibition called "Local Art and Culture Exhibition", held on various common spaces of the Jockey Club Creative Art Centre (JCCAC)  in Shek Kip Mei. It started on 3rd December and would end on 18th of this month. But I needed not wait till I got there and actually stand in front of the exhibits before I could start clicking my camera shutter for practice.

An old lady trying to get something or other from her plastic bag at the little corner park of Pak Tin Street.

Two old men resting at the park.

Creative use of discarded bottles.

Obviously some ""feng shui" weapon to ward off evil influence, real or imagined.

Paint flaking off one of the windows in a building I passed.

A peek through an iron gate on my way to the JCCAC.

A corner of the converted factory building leading to the exhibition.

A poster of the the exhibition on the ground floor.

A notice board and monitor showing various activities at the centre

One of the chairs placed on the podium for tired feet.

A cafe next to the podium

The corridor of one of the exhibition rooms.

Another corridor in the building.

Some shadows on the floor, my favourite.

Another corridor.

Some pipes going into a hole in the wall

Some broken off  steel tube with jagged cut surface.

A pipe on the wall and its shadow.

Another staircase corner.

The peeled off plaster on the wall next to to a staircase .

Some shadows on the top of a flight of steps

Some sunlight and shadow on another staircase corner.

Some plants through an iron wire mesh.

A fire hydrant on one of the corridors.

Another fire alarm.

Some peeled off paint on the exterior of a pipe.

Some chairs for sitting on at a corner of one of the corridors.

Some graffiti beside some discarded instruments on the corridor.

A wheel on a discarded wheel-barrow

A duster and rag below a black board outside one of the studios.

A door with a directional arrow.

A towel machine next to a fire alarm light.

Another fire alarm.

The exterior to one of the studios.

A bell hung outside one of the artist's workshops.

Straw doll on the door of one of the studios

Another straw doll leaning against the railing outside of the studio

A third one against the corner of the railing

Part of discarded machine placed opposite the lift on the 6th floor

Some old discarded printing machine placed in front of the lift on one of the floors.

Another machine placed on another f

Some plumping outside the building opposite to the JCCAC.

Some cactus on the parapet.

It's really a small world. I ran into an old friend at the lift lobby on the podium!  A photo of the window at his office.

  1. Well captured caricatures. Like the "exit" photo in particular. How did you do the hazy framing?

It's not difficult. I just put the camera right between the two metal bars at another gate at the far end of the same corridor where I took the photo..
