Another Airport

I have been to
Incheon International Airport I do not know how many times over the years. Yet I seldom really looked at it. This time, I did. Opened in early 2001 and now the world's 8th busiest passenger airport, voted the best airport in the world for 4 yearfrom 2006 to 2010 and thereafter second best after the HK International Airport , it really has lots to offer to the roving eyes of a novice in amateur photography

This is what I found when I stepped outside the international transit check point.

The lighting was simple and easy on the eyes.

One of the offices on the second floor of the airport.

One of the self-service electronic immigration ID check points and its reflection upon the polished wooden floor panels

If I didn't tell you and you don't read Korean, you would never have guessed that this is the box for a fire hose!

As the shops were not yet open, all I could see were images and reflections upon the shop windows.

A reflection of the airport's official announcement screen upon the entrance to one of the shops not yet open for business.

Father Christmas with his reindeers and snow sledge upon a starry starry night..

A reflection of the window display of one of the shops upon another mirroring surface.

A most peculiar "model without a head walking a tight rope on high heels in one of the shop windows.

I like the warm colors.

A curious play of light on one of the shop windows.

A snow man!

The back panel of the export duty refund counter.

An image behind some "light bar prison"!

Another reflected image on on of the shop fronts.

Some models of what is on offer for hungry stomaches.

The false ceiling over the children's play area.

Another concealed ceiling light there

Part of the false ceiling of the children's play area

The anti-bumping and anti-skidding plastic floor tiles.

Wanna play?

An empty music stand

Some chairs for the musicians

An idle computer for checking passenger tickets in front of one of the gates

Would you believe it? This is the entrance to the ladies' loo.

A strange mix of the inside and outside

A row of seats in the morning sun.

Another curious effect of light on one of the windows.

A further reflection found on one of the window display glass panes

Part of the roof of one of the wings of the airport.

Another curious combination of what is inside and what is out.

Dawn is coming!

Another artifact of the windows to the airport.

What can be seen from a slit in one of the stairs.

Reflections on the floor.

Part of the external walls before dawn.

One of the glass walls

Golden sunlight upon some windows.

This is how it looks before people woke up.

The sides of windows with their reflections.

Some airplanes parked nearby

This is the head of an airplane with its nose close to the window.

Part of the passenger resting areas.

As the plane won't be departing for another few hours, better grab a little sleep!

Or look at text messages on the I-phone

Or sending one

Or enjoying an online movie?

Or dosing off whilst the toddlers are having fun in the play area if one is a grandma whilst her daughter wanders off for some duty free shopping

But the sun is now coming out, playing its game of light and shadow everywhere.

upon these rows of chair

upon the walls and the floors.

upon these chairs and tables where I was having my early breakfast.

upon this plastic cup of another transit passenger.

upon the table at the front?

upon this boy having his breakfast.

"What are you doing?", his eyes seemed to be asking.

After breakfast, I wandered to one of the "experience Korean culture" centresand found these souvenirs: a pair of drums.

More hand drums

Some Korean kimonos.

A Korean doll

A Korean couple

Another dancing Korean doll.

A Korean reed basket

A pair of ladies'' shoes

An emperor's seal.

The queen's seal

A woman mask

A man's mask.

Another comedian mask.

And finally some musical instruments . Will they send me off to America with songs of blessings?.
