A Valentine's Day Poem

POSSIBLY

to wake and find you sitting up in bed
with you black hair and gold skin
leaning against the white wall
a perfect slant of sunlight slashed
across your chest as if God
were Rembrandt or maybe Ingmar Bergman
but luckily it's too early to go to the movies
and all the museums are closed on Tuesday
anyway I'd rather be here with you
than in New York or possibly Amsterdam
with your eyes and lips and legs and bellies
and the sun as big as a house in the sky
and five minutes left before the world begins.

[版主回覆02/15/2012 06:28:10]It's a rather unusual poem! Not the run of the mill type. Quite authentic and quite contemporary in feel.

  6. Frankly, I don't find the poem very romantic. But, all the same, your kind thought about this day is much appreciated. Happy Valentine's Day, ElZorro!
[版主回覆02/15/2012 06:36:45]You must be thinking bouquets. candle light dinners, walks under palm trees and flowers on a beautiful tropical beach under a starlit sky or a lover longing for/reminiscing the good times spent together etc. It's just one poetess' feeling about her lover. Thanks for your good wishes. I hope you got a nice one too!

  7. Why need 999 roses to prove your love? This is it.
[版主回覆02/15/2012 19:30:16]More or less like Chinese people using the plum flower, the orchid, the bamboo and chrysanthemum: conferring flowers specific cultural meanings.
