The Mini-Model Exhibition at Maritime Square (青衣城微型藝術展) 1

The weather wasn't that good on Sunday. I decided to try my luck indoor. I swallowed so much "food" I thought my camera would probably have to endure a very severe case of "indigestion". I went to the Mini-Model Exhibition at  Maritime Square, Tsing Yi

Chicken wings, chicken legs, stuffed green pepper, stuffed red pepper, stuffed  "chit kwa",shell fish, fish, omelette, fish cake, seasoned eggs, spring rolls, braised octopus slices, satays, sausages  noodles .... and cigarettes and beer at a self-service stall!

A "Ta Lang"  (打冷)(meaning in Chiu Chow dialect, the kind of meal taken by the triad gang members after "hitting people" )  table at a cooked food stall

Soups and noodles

Sea food galore

Chiu Chow style cooked food stall

What's on the table

A close up of the stall with short stools upon a long bench

"Fried ghosts", fried bun and fried sesame seed bun

Club sandwiches, pineapple bun with luncheon meat and egg, strawberry icecream

Danish roll, "tyre" breadm pretsels, chocolate puff, dough nuts, cookies....

The bread even has air bubbles in them!

Clay pot rice with preserved duck, and sausages

All kinds of local wines

fish balls, carrots, celery, green bell peppers, tomatoes, Chinese cabbage, lettuce, octopus, and salted chicken, big sausages

Salted Chicken, barbecued pork, marinated goose, Octopus, pig's tripe...

Japanese snacks

To be enjoyed at leisure at a table for two

All kinds of sashimi at the counter

Hong Kong "Soda Fountain"  with freshly baked pine apple buns, egg tarts, shredded coconut tart and cream puff

There's even a spittoon at the side of the hard high back bench

French toast, minced beef rice with fried eggs, beef brisket rice and milk tea or coffee

A street corner neighborhood store

    引人垂涎啊。
[版主回覆04/15/2013 21:21:13]Some of the exhibits are really very well done indeed. Often they contain very trivial but important little details which help trigger old memories. And as you say, some of them are tempting.

  4. So very nostalgic!
Look at the minor details they put into the miniature objects, not missing even the dents in the metal steam pot covers!
[版主回覆04/16/2013 22:39:04]You are most observant. You're right. There are a lot of surprisingly tiny details.
